I have several years of experience with basic web development, and am motivated and eager to expand my skills. I can hand-code HTML and have built and maintained a variety of simple websites for business and for pleasure as a part time freelancer. I often use Drupal and am proficient in setting up databases in MySQL, installing, administering and permissioning Drupal and installing and configuring modules. I can also code a little ASP, CGI, PHP and Javascript and am always wanting to learn more.
In terms of other technical skills, I have some PC hardware (A+) training and can install and uninstall basic hardware. I am also experienced with installing, upgrading and uninstalling software. I'm skilled with Windows, the Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel and Powerpoint), Open Office, Adobe Photoshop and Bridge (among other imaging applications), Acrobat, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and I can set up email accounts in Outlook and Thunderbird. I am very familiar with setting up new web hosting accounts and using Control Panel to administer them and set up email, as well as registering, renewing and transfering domain names, making DNS and contact changes and using FTP. In addition, I am familiar with CRM software such as CiviCRM, bug tracker and trouble ticket systems. I also have a small amount of Mac experience.
If something is outside of my skillset, I am smart enough and independent enough to search for and find the information and answers I need to complete the task - whether by searching Google or cracking open a book.
Website Examples
Roy Robertson is a copywriter and voice over artist in San Diego, California. I revamped Roy's website with a clever new theme to reflect the creative services he provides to advertising clients all over America. Using PHP, I built the site infrastructure and made a secure login location for Roy's clients to pick up their scripts or audio files. Mouseovers and spam-deterring email contact links were created using Javascript. I created the image-mapped graphical layout of the site based on a rough draft - a snapshot Roy took of his actual desktop surface! While I used the original desktop image as the base, I replaced nearly all of the individual elements - the yellow lined paper, the CD inserts, all the text, even the photo of Roy - using layers in Photoshop.
Shotgun Tom Kelly is a legendary radio personality in Los Angeles, California, with a career spanning decades. He needed a website to serve as an archive of his storied career, featuring photographs, videos, and memorabilia for his fans to browse. The site is built with Drupal and some Javascript.
The website you're now viewing - AndiHazelwood.com - is built with Drupal version 6.13. The splash page has been validated as HTML 4.01 Transitional by W3C, the World Wide Web Consortium.
I also have experience in a variety of fast-paced, tightly deadlined office environments ranging from broadcasting to nonprofit. I founded a small nonprofit organization in Australia called SustainaBundy, where I produced regular HTML newsletters, emailing list sendouts, flyers, brochures, press releases and more. Prior to that I worked for an international nonprofit called Post Carbon Institute as Operations Manager of their online public service broadcasting initiative, Global Public Media. In this position, not only was I conducting and editing interviews, I was also managing and updating many of the organization's Drupal websites on a daily basis as well as compiling, laying out and editing the organization's monthly electronic newsletter.
